My Valentines Day-

If you don't know , I love the Pioneer Woman- I like her website, her books, and I LOVE her new  line of dishes!!! Anyway  This is what I got from Bob- He brought home  this cute, cute, cookie jar ( it is Charlie the dog) and of course some cookies to go in it. And also the tea holder!  This goes along with the dishes and the glasses that I had already received from  my Mom and him for other occasions!

Another supper for a cold Friday!

Last night I pulled out a Cream of Potato soup from the freezer.  It was a good night for that. Then we also make tuna melts-  We had not had them in a long time. We put them in the broiler and they were done in seconds!   We had a few whole wheat pretzels   to go with it!

For desert we had  some chocolate chip cookies- !

Product Review- Philadelphia Cheese Cake Filling/ Mothers day dessert

We took my Mother out for an afternoon dinner for Mother's day. But what I like to do when we do this for a special event is to make desert, and then come back to our house for dessert and coffee.

I like to do this for several reasons. Dessert is usually expensive at restaurants, and Ilike to be able to have something homemade or at least semi-home made ( as Sandra Lee would say!)

So what I did  on Saturday was pick up a Philadelphia Cheese Cake filling ( Vanilla) and a graham cracker pie crust.  You simply fill the crust and pop it back in the fridge. We topped with some fresh fruit and also we will have some cherry pie filling.

The cheese cake filling made by Philadelphia is very creamy  and rich with just  a hint of lemon. You can never

Pressure Cooker-Product Review

We just received a new Power Pressure XL- yes we caved after seeing the  Seen on TV video of all the delicious easy food coming out of this machine.  We were watching QVC and decided to go ahead and order.

It came quickly and was packed  very well.  The only thing I would change would be to have a bigger cookbook with more recipes in it.

We made a roast pork loin  ( 4 pound) that was done in 40 minutes- also made a gravy  that was smooth and tasty.   Next time I do this roast l I would maybe do it for a few more minutes.  I am searching the Internet and looking at all kinds of pressure cook books to get more ideas for my next meal done in the Power Pressure XL.

Making Easter Gifts!

Every year I try to make a little something for all the girls( my Mom, my sistier and sister in law's , my niece,  ) So this year I decided to make pot holders ( again) . But I figured you can never have to many potholders. I did most of this by hand and then finished them up by machine.  I used blues , yellows, and pinks- all the springy colors.
I find it very relaxing to do both hand and machine sewing. Usually they come out very nice. So I have a nice handmake gift to f give that is also useful!  What could be better than that?

Ham Fried Rice

When you have leftovers of rice , a little meat, and some basic vegetables-  Make Fried Rice!  It is easy and filling and it cleans out your refrigerator. It works great for working  people because you can prep the night before . Then when you get home from work, dinner is just minutes away!

We had leftover rice ( brown) but not a lot , so I made another half cup of rice.  Then I chopped up onions , carrots, celery, and garlic and put it in containers.  I chopped up ham and put that in another container.

      Recipe: Adapted from many cookbooks

Heat  oil in a wok or large skillet.   Throw in onions and garlic and stir. Stir every-once in a while until softened.  Then add in  the rest of the vegetables: I used carrots and celery, but really you can use any raw or crisp cooked vegetable.  Saute and stir  until soft.  Then add the rice and also some soy sauce or stir fry sauce.  Also toss in your meat ( I used leftover ham) But you could also use pork , chicken, or beef.

I did not do this  but sometimes I scramble an egg or two before I put the onions in.   All will be done  when it is hot through.  If you have them you can add sprouts.

Sorry I can not show you a photo !!  We ate most of it and Bob took the rest for his lunch!
